A relaxed, social stroll with light refreshments at a popular Enfield park café & cycling hub.

The walk will offer a chance to share with others what you enjoy about walking in Enfield – and what you think could be improved to make everyday walking safer and more pleasant.

When, where and how long?

Date: Sunday 13 October

Meeting place & time: 10:45am, outside Southgate Tube Station, at the circular bench opposite Humphery’s newsagents (What Three Words locator: birds.bring.woes). The station is served by buses 125, 299, 382, 688 & 600 at bus stop: Southgate station

Length of walk: 6km/3.5 miles

Approximate duration: 2 hours’ walking + time for lunch

Route and other information

The circular walk will proceed from Southgate Tube into Grovelands Park and then on to Oakwood Park, stopping at the Oakwood Park Café, where light refreshments will be provided – or you can buy a more substantial lunch from its menu. We will then return to Southgate Station. or you are free to head onwards to a different destination. There are toilet facilities at commercial premises near Southgate Tube (e.g. Café Nero) and at Oakwood Park Café.

The surfaces will be mostly pavement and path, and for a short time woodland and duckboards: no special walking equipment is required, other than comfortable shoes, but you are welcome to bring, e.g., Nordic walking poles or any other aids, as you wish. The terrain is mostly level or gentle ascents/descents. The pace will be relaxed.

The owners of the Oakwood Park Café will be able to inform walkers about the facilities they offer, e.g. free bike hire, for any future visits to the park.

Dogs on leads are welcome.
